I decided to bust out my new tank top from H&M, which was featured in my recent haul. As I mentioned there, the tank top is the perfect length for tucking in. I never appreciated the wonders of tucking in when I was kid, now I'm all about it. Pair a loose top with a fitted pencil skirt and bam, you've got a pretty waist! At first I considered wearing a blazer, but it felt too frumpy for some reason. I decided to go with a simple black cardigan I picked up a few years ago from Sidecca. It has a nice fit, which means it will take shape with my body...whereas a blazer would make look like a square.
I just can't get over how adorable this top is though! The ruffles in my opinion are cute but yet professional. This is definitely a top that can be worn outside of work with a pair of jeans and sandals or flats. Tops that are excessively baggy or too tight don't look too well on me. This top takes shape with your body whether it's tucked in or not. I bought this same top in a bright pink, but figured that color was just too bright for all black which is why I opted for the pale pink color. Since the weather here in L.A. has been fluctuating like crazy lately, I had to pair my pencil skirt with nylons. I miss the days when I could wear a skirt and it would be 75 degrees outside at 7am. Until then, nylons are going to have to provide some warmth and protection to my bony legs.
To keep my little body warm, I went with a pair of black booties instead of pumps. I never liked the concept of nylons and booties but once I wore it, my mind changed. Now looking at nylons and pumps just looks wrong, unless they're nude nylons. I picked up these little bad boys from Target last year. It's faux suede all around with a gold zipper detail. Booties are perfect for people with big feet (like me) because they make your feet appear smaller. The whole bootie has a unique cut to it which is why I was drawn to it. Rather than be evenly cut like a square, it has curves and a peculiar heel. Believe it or not these are very comfortable! Mind you, I didn't have a lot of time this morning to put together an amazing outfit...but I did get a lot of compliments, so maybe it wasn't that bad! :)
